There are various links for adding a schedule alert:
- on the calendar view: when you click on someone else's schedule, it will default to a notification or schedule alert
- right-clicking a schedule on the calendar view will show you this option
- on the list view: the box with the exclamation point
- from Schedule >> My Sched Notif . Click add for 'Pending Schedule Alert Notifications'
When you click the link, the dialog that follows will include presets of the schedule start, end and expiration time.
Use care when accepting or setting the start and end time. You will only receive a notification IF THE ENTIRE PERIOD FROM THE START TO THE END TIME BECOMES AVAILABLE. So, you should set the start and end time to the minimum times acceptable for your use.
Example: Suppose another pilot has the aircraft you desire schedule from 0900 to 1800 on a particular day. You wish to use it any time after 1400. If you leave the default settings (0900 to 1800) then you will be notified if the entire schedule is cancelled. However, if you set the start time to 1400, you will be notified in the case where the other pilot returns early and cancels the balance of the schedule.
Some clubs allow standby schedules to be made in the event that the original schedule is cancelled. See other articles for use of standby scheduling.
