The authorization to add, edit, and delete messages can be set on the user authorization page. General members can read messages as allowed by management.
To edit or delete a message, go to the 'Messages' tab, click on the "Enable message edits" link, which shows the links to edit or delete existing messages...edit or delete as needed but keep in mind that when you edit or delete a message, you are editing the message that everyone sees - not just your copy. Be sure to 'Save' when editing is done. You also have the ability, when editing to change the 'secure message' setting. If checked, it will restrict message access to non-suspended members. Then, only authorized users will be able to view a resource specific message.
To add a message, go to the 'Messages' tab, click on the 'Add a message' link towards the top of the page. You will see the screen below.
How you set the Regarding field will determine how your message is handled. Here are the options:
General and public messages are the same. However, only public messages may be used within external web pages (e.g. within your Club's web site). Public message do not require the reader to be a member or have to log in to any web site. These types of messages will trigger display of the messages the first time a user logs in after the message was added
Announcement messages are displayed to a user each and every time they log in. They are easily identifiable by their magenta colored background.
Resource messages are displayed in the resource status page (i.e. from the hazard triangle on the schedule) and on the preflight. These are also listed in the general list of messages, but it does not trigger the list to be visible.
You can create your own messages or have the option of several pre-set templates to choose from if desired (Ride Share, Ground School, Plane Wash or Work Day).
